How to Make Coffee in a Coffee Maker

Making coffee in a coffee maker is not difficult. There are many types of coffee makers, but the basic steps are similar with all coffee makers. Here are the steps to making coffee in a coffee maker.
First: Insert filter
Open the lid at the top of the coffee maker. There, you should see a basket and a reservoir. Place the filter in the basket. It should sit in the basket neatly. Prior to making coffee for the first time, it is recommended that you check the basket or the instructions that came with the coffee maker to determine which type of filter is appropriate for your model of coffee maker. Most use a standard size filter that resembles a bowl, but mini coffee makers require a smaller filter, and a few use a cone-shaped filter. If you do not have a filter but do not wish to wait, you can use cheesecloth or even paper towels until you have time to buy coffee filters.
Second: Put coffee in the coffee maker
The next step is to put coffee into the coffee maker. The amount of coffee to use varies depending on how strong you wish to have your coffee. For a full pot of coffee, four scoops or spoonfuls is usually recommended. Scoop or spoon the coffee, and place it into the filter. If you have coffee beans instead of pre-ground coffee, it is important to grind the coffee first.
Third: Pour water
Fill the coffee pot with the same amount of water as coffee you wish to make. Pour the water from the coffee pot into the water reservoir, which is usually located behind the filter basket.
Fourth: Finish
Close the lid of the coffee maker. Place the coffee pot back on the burner, then turn the coffee maker on. Wait until the coffee stops dripping into the coffee pot, unless your coffee maker has a feature that stops the coffee from dripping while the pot is not on the burner.
